When you’re on campus, it’s nice knowing where there’s a person who can look at your laptop when you need support, a printer when you need a hard copy, or an outlet when your phone's running low. You can find Pitt Digital services at plenty of on-campus spots designed to help you take care of your tech.
Here's your quick guide to what's available and where to find it — including a few spots that aren't Pitt Digital at all, but are just as good to know about.
🛠️ Drop-In Support: Get Hands-On Help
Bring your own laptop, tablet, or phone and get one-on-one help from a Technical Consultant at Drop-In Support.
- 📍 Where: Hillman Library Technology Lab (Room G65) and the University Store on Fifth 🧰 What they help with: Wi-Fi setup, Microsoft 365 installs, password issues, virus removal, general troubleshooting
- 🎒 What to bring: Your laptop, charger, and Panther Card (or be signed into Mobile Panther ID)
- Not covered: Hardware repairs. For that, the University Store Repair Center offers free diagnostics as a separate service.
💻 Computing Labs: High-Powered Devices When You Need One
Need a computer when yours is unavailable? Pitt Digital operates Student Computing Labs in 5 locations across campus, all stocked with Windows and Mac computers, printers, and scanners.
- 📍 Locations: Cathedral of Learning (G-25, G-27, G-62), David Lawrence Hall 230, Thaw M3, Sutherland Hall, and Hillman Library.
- ⭐ Shoutout: Hillman Library. It runs on the library's hours instead of a separate lab schedule, making it one of the more flexible options on campus when you need a computer later than most labs allow.
- 🌙 Night owl tip: Cathedral of Learning G-25 (our mobile computing lab) is open 24/7 during the semester —it's a mobile computing counter, so bring your own laptop or tablet and plug into the Wi-Fi and power outlets on hand.
- ✅ Before you go: Check the interactive lab status map to see what's open right now.
🖨️ Need a Hard Copy? We've Got You
Every Computing Lab doubles as a PittPrint Station, with more stations in residence halls and academic buildings.
- How it works: Submit your job from your laptop, phone, or browser
- Release it: At any station with your Panther Card, a QR scan, or your Pitt username and password
- Good to know: Jobs stay in your queue for 48 hours before they're automatically deleted
Need something bigger than a standard sheet of paper? The Hillman Library Technology Lab offers academic poster printing through a partnership with CopyCat and Pitt Digital. Submit your file at pi.tt/poster and pick up your finished poster at the Tech Lab in about two business days.
🔌 Rescue Your Dying Battery
Charging stations are easy to find once you know where to look.
- 📍 Where: Every Student Computing Lab, the William Pitt Union, and the Walk-In Support desks at the University Store on Fifth and Litchfield Towers Lobby
- 🔋 Cables available: Lightning, micro-USB, and USB-C
- Good habit: Stay nearby while your device charges
🕐 Find In-Person Hours Anytime
Lab and Drop-In Support hours shift with the semester and around holidays, so skip trying to memorize them. Bookmark digital.pitt.edu instead — find current hours for every location in the yellow bar at the top of the page.
🧭 Tech Resources Across the University
Outside of Pitt Digital, you can find plenty of resources that support your technology needs.
- Panther Central (Litchfield Towers Lobby) — Panther Card and Mobile Panther ID, your key to your dorm, meal plan, and campus buildings.
- Open Lab @ Hillman (Hillman Library, Room 132) — a makerspace for 3D printing, VR, laser cutting, and vinyl cutting, run by the University Library System (ULS) and the Center for Teaching and Learning.
- Group Study Space(Hillman Library) — bookable rooms through ULS, great for group projects that need a screen.
