Duo has announced that individuals using Duo Mobile app versions older than 4.85.0 will need to update to the latest version before Tuesday, March 31, to ensure uninterrupted use of Duo multifactor authentication. This update is necessary because Duo is enhancing security by phasing out certain types of digital certificates.
Pitt Digital has identified individuals using older versions of the Duo Mobile app and will be contacting them directly via email to ask them to take the following actions:
- Check the Duo Mobile app version: Open the Duo Mobile and tap the menu icon. The app version is displayed in the bottom-left corner. Versions older than 4.85.0 need to be updated.
- Update older Duo Mobile app versions: Duo Mobile should update automatically if your device has a Duo-supported operating system (view supported Android or iOS operating systems). If needed, users can manually update Duo Mobile using these steps for Android and iOS devices.
- Watch for reminder notifications: Users will receive periodic update reminders on the older version of their Duo Mobile app until they update to the latest app version.
If Duo Mobile is not updated before March 31, users will not be able to receive Duo Push notifications on their device. They would still be able to generate passcodes in the app and use telephone-based authentication features like SMS text messages and phone callback.
Pitt Digital is committed to ensuring a smooth transition to the latest version of the Duo Mobile app. Individuals who have questions or need assistance upgrading can submit a ticket to the Technology Help Desk or call +1-412-624-HELP (4357).
