Pitt Digital has approved two integrated AI notetaking tools for University use: AI Notes in Teams Premium and Zoom AI Companion. These vendor-native applications enable users to create real-time meeting summaries that increase efficiency and reduce administrative burden.
While these specific applications have been vetted and are approved for use with University data, Zoom AI Companion is not compatible with the HIPAA-compliant Zoom environment. Please note that no other AI notetakers are approved for use with University data.
Using AI Notes in Teams Premium
AI Notes are available automatically after a recorded or transcribed Teams meeting for Teams Premium users, which is an optional paid add-on to Microsoft Teams. Teams Premium licenses may be purchased through PantherExpress for $27 per user, per year.
Using Zoom AI Companion
- Meeting hosts can start or stop Meeting Summary through in-meeting controls.
- Participants may automatically receive a summary after the meeting if the host chooses to share it with them.

To further increase meeting security, Pitt Digital has disabled remote control for all users by default. To enable this feature, please see Requesting or giving remote control. Remote control should only be granted to trusted individuals whose identities are confirmed.
