Google has identified a security vulnerability affecting its Chrome web browser that could allow an attacker to run harmful code on an unpatched device. Simply visiting a webpage that exploits this vulnerability — including a legitimate site that's been compromised — is enough to trigger it. No download, click, or other action is required.

A dark web service called Nexus is selling scans of more than 153 million drivers licenses from the U.S. and Canada, apparently sourced from a breach at a Louisiana identity verification company.

Pitt Digital has taken steps to resolve an issue that briefly affected new logins to PittNet Wi-Fi service for approximately twenty minutes this afternoon. Individuals who were already authenticated to PittNet Wi-Fi were not affected. Pitt Digital is closely monitoring the service to ensure continued reliability and stability. To protect the University community, Pitt Digital will enforce a minimum version of the Zoom client beginning Monday, Sept. 14. Older versions of Zoom contain vulnerabilities that make users more susceptible to security risks. Updating gives you the latest security and privacy protections available for the app.

As part of a summer-long network modernization initiative that’s nearing completion, the University’s Wi-Fi network names are changing at participating UPMC locations.The next time Pitt affiliates visit one of the following locations, they should connect to Wi-Fi using the new PittNet network name. On Thursday, Sept. 3, the legacy WIRELESS-PITTNET and PITT GUEST WI-FI network names will no longer be available.
